“Melissa Gregg is Principal Engineer, co-Director and Researcher in Residence for the Intel Science and Technology Center for Social Computing at UC Irvine. She has a PhD in Gender Studies from the University of Sydney and specializes as a socio-cultural theorist and ethnographer. Prior to joining Intel, she held successive postdoctoral fellowships at the Center for Critical and Cultural Studies, University of Queensland (2004-8) and a faculty post in the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney (2009-12). Her publications include Work’s Intimacy (Polity 2011), The Affect Theory Reader (co-edited with Gregory J. Seigworth, Duke 2010), Cultural Studies’ Affective Voices (Palgrave 2006), and Willunga Connects : A baseline study of pre-NBN Willunga (2011).

Melissa’s current research looks at technology’s role in the development of professional subjectivity. She studies new models of labor and enterprise emerging within and outside formal workplaces, and places these in the broader history of computation, innovation and management.
